Mr. Big Shot leads Killer 3’s to first victory

Chauncey Billups, Stephen Jackson combine for 39 points in the Killer 3’s first win.

After reports surfaced last week that Chauncey Billups would be turning down the general manager position for the Cleveland Cavaliers, the veteran point guard turned his attention to the BIG3.

Week 3 of the BIG3 took place at the BOK Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

In his second game back with the Killer 3’s after missing Week 1, the former Detroit Pistons All-Star scored 21 points in a 51-44 victory against Tri-State.

In a physical battle of the remaining winless teams, Mr. Big Shot sealed the win with a clutch four-pointer. Stephen Jackson abused Tri-State in the post to add 18 points. Reggie Evans also came up big with a double-double of 12 points and 18 rebounds.

“It was a good game, I mean it was a must win for us and them,” Billups said in the post game press conference.

Mike James led Tri-State to take a nine-point lead at halftime. He finished the game with 18 points as his team struggled for yet another game. Jermaine O’Neal had 10 points and 6 rebounds.

When asked if the four-point shot should be implemented in the NBA, Billups immediately opposed.

“No, I wouldn’t like to see that in the league,” Billups said. “That’s our thing. That’s a BIG3 thing. Guys in the league are shooting it from further than that. There’s some great players out there but I think it’s great that that’s our thing.”

In addition to the four games, Ice Cube performed “Today Was A Good Day” at halftime of the final game between Trilogy and 3’s Company.

The celebrities were in the building as well. Julius “Dr. J” Erving, Russell Westbrook, Tracy McGrady and LL Cool J showed up to support basketball’s newest league.

With so many players of NBA royalty in the arena, it was definitely a good day for the BIG3.
