Ben Simmons, Donovan Mitchell headline Rising Stars Challenge

The NBA announced rosters for the 2019 Mountain Dew Rising Stars Challenge on Tuesday night.

Philadelphia 76ers guard Ben Simmons and Dallas Mavericks guard Luka Doncic headline Team World, represented by players born outside of the United States. Utah Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell and Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum headline the roster for Team USA.

The full list of rosters for Team USA and Team World are found below:

Simmons, the reigning Rookie of the Year, is averaging a career-high 16.8 points and 9.5 rebounds per game. Mitchell is also averaging a career-best 22.5 points, 3.8 rebounds and 3.9 assists per outing.

Also, both Simmons and Mitchell have the opportunity to be selected for the main event on Sunday.

If the coaches select the budding stars, they’ll have to decide whether they’d like to play in both exhibition games as Simmons’ teammate, Joel Embiid did last year.

Earlier this month, Mitchell declined the invitation to defend his Sprite Slam Dunk Contest title.

While the official head coaches for each team will be an assistant coach from each 2019 NBA All-Star Game coaching staff, both squads will have honorary coaches.

Celtics All-Star Kyrie Irving will serve as the honorary coach of Team USA, while Team World will be led by Dallas Mavericks veteran Dirk Nowitzki.

The Rising Stars Challenge will take place on Feb. 15 at 9 p.m. in Charlotte, N.C.
